A Boozie Showdown for a Good Cause
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th at 2pm
HomeState is hosting the 2nd Annual Margarita Showdown to enjoy from the comfort of your own home!
THE EVENT
The Margarita Showdown is a marg and music festival that raises money for charitable organizations. Paired with musical sets by Band Taco Alumni, marg makers come together in a lighthearted competition to determine who can make the best margarita in Los Angeles. All proceeds from the Showdown will benefit our partners, No Us Without You! and Watts Empowerment Center. Our friends at ChowNow are matching every $1 raised up to $10,000. Our friends at Vesta are providing produce and dry goods for all our vendors.
THE LIVESTREAM SHOW
Because we can’t gather in person this year, we’ll be streaming the Showdown live at 2pm on margaritashowdown.com while you sit back, relax and enjoy your flight of margs curated from around the city. Hosted by comedian Cristela Alonzo, the show will feature musical performances intercut with marg makers sharing their drinks and stories. This year’s musical lineup includes Chicano Batman, Spoon, Questlove, Local Natives, Angela Muñoz and Fred Armisen.
MARG FLIGHTS & VOTING
This year, we are bringing the margaritas to you with curated packages. Each Showdown Margarita Package is $50 and includes:
- (8) Glass bottles of 4oz margaritas curated from around the city
- (2) Limes
- Garnishing salt
- HomeState reusable metal straw
- Keepsake Margarita Showdown glass
You can pre-order your margaritas by clicking here (we recommend one Package per person) and they will be available for pick up at HomeState Highland Park on the day of the event (ID required). Margarita Packages are available until we sell out and must be pre-ordered.
This year’s marg makers include El Carmen, El Compadre, El Condor, Gold Line, Gracias Madre, HomeState,Petty Cash, and Va'la. Throughout the streamed festival, guests will be able to vote for their favorite marg and the winner will be announced at the end of the program.
CHARITABLE ORGS
All proceeds from the Showdown will benefit our partners:
No Us Without You!
Watts Empowerment Center
Throughout the program, we will be sharing information about the festival’s beneficiaries and ways to support their activism. Last year’s inaugural Showdown generated $5,590 for PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) - this year, we are hoping to double our numbers.
We look forward to sharing margs and music with y’all while raising some money for a good cause!
